EXCITING NEW JAZZ AT THE SEAPORT!

MTP-Montauk Theatre Productions (Anita Brown, Artistic Director) is proud to present, at it's Shooting Star Theatre in the South Street Seaport, Jazz composer, performer and recording artist PAUL SERRATO and his trio on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 3pm. Admission price is $15. and reservations are essential - call MTP/Shooting Star Theatre at 646.825.1864.

Paul Serrato's music on his Graffiti Productions label has been described as an example of "what high quality music unsigned bands can produce". A former musical director and arranger for Downtown New York Andy Warhol superstars, and with degrees in jazz composition and education, Paul's resume is as full of many twists and turns as his music.  A multilingual person, he strives for a musical poetry reflective of urban diversity.  With Paul on piano, and his two solid New York musicians on bass and on congas, this wonderful urban trio extends and redefines the boundaries of an intimate form of musical expression in unvarnished performance of original compositions.   Paul's music is inspired by the muse of New York, itself a city of perennial improvisation and mood swings.

This program presents Paul Serrato's compositions composed and recomposed.  Drawing on a time-honored tradition in jazz, he "reimagines his pieces over time", "tinkering" as he puts it.  He describes his creativity as "sitting down at the piano and letting ideas flow through the fingers".  The ultimate idea is to let the listener's imagination loose to reap the rewards of an indelible set of pieces and performances.

MTP's Production Director Bill Brown says, "Come enjoy this unique and energetic exploration of the traditional jazz combo, lovingly infused by ethnic rhythms and urban interpretations - all in Shooting Star Theatre's relaxing and intimate setting".

MTP-Montauk Theatre Productions (Anita Brown, Artistic Director) is a New York not-for-profit organization established in 1987 with 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status.
